PowerSchool Parent FAQs

PowerSchool Parent Frequently Asked Questions

Q: May I change my PowerSchool password?

A: Yes. After logging in, click on Account Preferences, and then the pencil icon next to "Current Password".

Q: What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

A: You can click on "Trouble Signing in?" link to have your password sent to your email address. You can also contact your child's school secretary for assistance.

Q: How do I add children to my account?

A: Contact the building where your child attends to have them added to your account.

Q: Can other people see my child's grades and information?

A: No.

Q: If my child changes schools within Grain Valley, do I need a new username and password?

A: No. Your parent account will remain active even if your child changes schools within our District.

Q: Do parents see the same information and screens as students?

A: When students and parents access the PowerSchool public portal, they see the same information with one exception- parents have the ability to request automatic progress reports via email.

Q: When I click on the teacher's name to email him/her, my email program doesn’t work correctly or doesn’t open.

A: Unfortunately, since everyone's email programs are different, your email program needs to be setup correctly on your computer. One alternative would be to copy and paste the email address manually into a new email.
