Community Engagement Opportunities

Community Engagement Opportunities

At Grain Valley Schools, we believe strong schools are built through collaboration with our families and community. One way we invite that collaboration is through our Community Engagement Committees. These groups offer a meaningful way for patrons to connect with district leaders and educators through open, honest dialogue and thoughtful input.

Whether your interests lie in curriculum, school finance, facilities, or student support, your voice matters. Committee members have the opportunity to shape important decisions that support every student, every day.

Available Committees
Community members may apply to serve on one or more of the following committees. A commitment of up to three years is preferred:
 - School Counseling Advisory Council
 - Bright Futures Advisory Board
 - Curriculum Review Committee

*A background in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

"The representatives from GVSD are very open and honest with the state of the school district's finances, whether good or bad. They are very open to questions from committee members and have no issues discussing what they are seeing regarding all funding avenues." -Parent, District Finance Committee

"The teachers were very knowledgable with their courses, and their passion was evident. It was very informative! Loved hearing from the educators- it helped me as a parent hear their heart and the thought process behind each resource used to teach a concept." - Parent, Curriculum Review Committee

Time Commitment
Each committee meets 1-4 times during the school year. Meetings typically last 1-3 hours, depending on the committee's purpose and agenda.
